Livestock Predation
Program
This program is a joint effort of Sask. Ag. &
Food, SERM and the SSDB
and is funded by Sask. Ag. & Food with administration handled
by the SSDB with assistance provided by SERM.
The program is for all livestock producers in the province. To
date we have responded to calls for the following producers:
sheep, goat, beef, swine, turkey, elk & horse.

Government
Liaison and
Industry Representation
The SSDB provides information and advice on policy both to the
provincial land federal governments and provides representation
on behalf of all sheep producers. The
SSDB is a member of the national sheep organization the Canadian Sheep Federation.
Special Projects
Leafy Spurge Grazing - The PFRA benefits from the
environmental control of spurge and the producers' sheep have
access to nutritional grazing under the watchful eye of a
shepherd.
National ID Program
As of January 1st 2004, sheep producers are required to:
- Ensure that a CSIP ear tag has been applied to
all sheep and lambs before they leave their farm.
- Keep a record of: All sheep or lambs entering
their flock for breeding purposes.
- Keep a record of: All sheep 18 months or older
leaving their farm, other than those sold directly to a federally or
provincially inspected abattoir.
Imported sheep must have a Canadian approved
national identification tag applied within 7 days of arrival.

Sask-First Lamb
Feeder Co-op
The SFLFC association is to
help producers borrow money to purchase sheep to increase or
start a new sheep flock, at a reasonable interest rate with
competitive repayment terms. Its members control the
association. The sheep and the assurance fund deposit is the
only collateral required by the lender. Loan approval is up to
a maximum of $35,000 for the breeder and/or the feeder side of
the program.
